That’s one of the main points of Linux and open source software, most of it is under the Apache and GPL licenses, so you are completely free to distribute it however you want. You can take one Ubuntu Linux CD, walk into Canonical’s offices, install it on 500 laptops directly in front of the CEO and he’d have to smile (hell, knowing Mark..he probably would haha).
As long as you don’t start taking credit for the software, or modifying it under the same name, or start selling it, you’re 100% in the clear.
I’d just like to interject for a moment.
What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it.

It is perfectly fine. Just don’t abuse it and "color in the lines".
