I recently have switched from Windows Vista to Ubuntu Linux. I want to know if there is a book out there on learning the commands and getting my way around and learning about linux. I really like it.

I want to remove Windows Vista from my computer, which has Windows Vista and Linux Ubuntu installed. I want to remove Vista, so that only Linux is available. How can I do this?

I bought a brand new HP laptop with Windows Vista. I tried to connect to the charles Wifi ( The one available in my area ) but it asks me for a pass code. I would like to know how can i contact Charles to get the pass code.

I recently installed Ubuntu 9.04 on a Sony Vaio laptop. I need to remove it and re-install Windows. For some bizarre reason, gparted can’t run on this computer, so what can I do to change the OS?

For the record, I do prefer Linux, but the person whose computer it is decided he prefers Vista.

I have a Windows Vista computer, if i install GNU/Linux is it possible for be to switch from Gnu/linux to windows when start the computer? I do a lot of audio/video editing and i was thinking of Dynebolic but then this question came up. Another question; is it possible to put GNU/Linux on a CD so if the CD is in the PC it starts GNU/Linux and if it isn’t it doesn’t start GNU/Linux? Thank You

I have windows xp and windows vista 32 bit editions on same machine could you describe a method to install ubuntu server 64 bit on same machine ,i doubt about using wubi as no .iso image is available for server except alternate iso of ubuntu which i think is a desktop version.
Also, What is GRUB GNU?is it build into live cd of ubuntu?

I’d like to be able to run/test my PHP programs on my desktop, instead of constantly uploading them to my server to run, and have to deal with constant use of phpMyAdmin. So how can I run a php environment and mySQL database on my Windows Vista desktop? (Free programs, if possible.)

On Windows Vista, i deleted the partition which contained linux. Now when I restart, I used to get a screen that allowed me to choose to boot linux, or other. I would choose other for Windows to load.

However, now I just get a command prompt from grub, and do not know how to get it to load windows. How would I tell this grub program to boot the OS (windows vista) on the machine.

Note: I barely used linux, so I’m a noob with that, and need some noob friendly instructions on what to do, thank you.
Thanx guys, from the other info i got, that appears it will work, also as a alternative to not having the vista disk, i found that I can type

root (hd0,0)
chainloader +1
boot

and that forces grub to boot my windows.

I installed PHP using the MS Web Application Gallery on windows Vista/IIS7. Now I need the php_gmp extension/ math library to be installed. The where can I get the library and what commands do I use to install it in php.ini?
