I just bought a used laptop and I am used to the XP home operating system. How do I go about connecting to my modem or a wireless network using the Ubuntu Linux operating system? Usually there is a connect to menu. I am unable to find this equivalent on Linux.

Okay, so I have a 12 inch powerbook G4. It has run great but it is not the fastest thing around anymore. My buddy recommended putting linux on it, an old version, so it’s faster again. All I want is a word processor and a web browser. I am not a BIG techie but I can get around alright, however I have never done anything other than install a windows bootleg.

I am writing pages for my site in php.
I want to test them without uploading them.
What is the best program to use?
I need something that is simple to set up and is as small as possible (an addon for Firefox would be ideal). I don’t really want to set up apache or anything like that on my computer.

I have switched off Internet Explorer 8 because it seemed to have made the computer very slow, and switched on the Firefox web explorer. This seems to have made the computer very fast but the spelling checker will not check the spelling in Hotmail e-mail messages, even after I clicked on the suggested button. Tell me how to fix this problem, please?

Ok, I want to use something like Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird, but I want it to be online only in a web browser. I currently use Firefox. Is there some kind of add on or something I can use?

I used to use Outlook for my emails. (I have two addresses and don’t like to use the current email clients)

I want something similar, but online only.

I really don’t know which browser I should go with… Being with speed though I do like Google Chrome… But I want to know what is the best all around browsers out of Apple’s Safari, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, or Mozilla Firefox.. Can somebody please give me some details about the best web browser out of these ones please. THANKS!

ok, i know that firefox is a web browser, but if i download it , can i still use the Internet Explorer ? or will it be taken over by firefox ?

I am not sure when scripts from www.extjs.com or www.dhtmlx.com and other scripts that are license under GNU can be used on commercial websites, which have no plans to sell the website, just to use the scripts, in order to make their website look better.

My understanding of GNU license scripts is that they are free to use, and considering you can view source from a web browser, i guess any javascript license under the GNU is free for use ?

is this correct ?
