Im currently using Linux Ubuntu as my OS on my HP laptop and want to restore to factory settings as I prefer using windows 7 for the tasks that I have to perform on my laptop, Ive tried using the system restore when starting the up the laptop but this just causes Ubuntu to load as normal. Is there any terminal commands or any other way to restore the laptop without having to go and create a windows installation disk?

I am looking to install Linux on my laptop (Dell Inspiron E1705). During installation I was asked if I wanted to install it under Windows or as a stand alone. I have partitioned my hard drive so the installation as a standalone is no problem, but this is my first time attempting to work with Linux. .

Are there any other issues I might have to face, and if so what is the best way to deal with them???

For example, Ubuntu needs a program called Wine to install Windows-based software. So is there another Linux OS that can install them right away? And if so, whats the lowest Linux OS memory usage?

I tried using PlusFAX and It doesn’t work with a high speed internet connection just like the Windows Fax services. Is there any other software that works in XP, Vista, or Ubuntu that can send a fax over a DSL internet connection?

I recently installed Ubuntu 9.04 on a Sony Vaio laptop. I need to remove it and re-install Windows. For some bizarre reason, gparted can’t run on this computer, so what can I do to change the OS?

For the record, I do prefer Linux, but the person whose computer it is decided he prefers Vista.

I got this new laptop (ultra portable) without a disk drive. I remember hearing ti was possible to get linux running with a flash drive but, what I want to know is if it’s possible to download linux with it (dual boot). If not is there any other way? I’m using an Ubuntu like distro.

Right now I can dual boot with Windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux. My wireless card doesn’t work with Ubuntu. So I was wondering, could I buy a USB wireless adapter and try to connect to a wifi network using that? If so what is recommended to get? And where could I get drivers for Ubuntu Linux?
