Should I use Open Source or Closed Source Software?

I’m part of the development of a Medium sized Manufacturing company and I’ve been given the task of recommending either open or closed source software for our business needs. I know what each type of software is, but I don’t know enough about them to make an educated recommendation. Can anyone out there help?

Can Open source software be used for corporate use?

Hello all. I was wondering if open source software can be used for corporate use. Does anyone know if there are any limitations? I am sending a request list of some open source software to the IT help desk for the corporation I work for to approve, but they mentioned that I needed to make sure it was okay for corporate use first. That seemed to imply that not all open source software was available for corporate use but would be for the user. Anyone know for sure?

Can someone tell me a website or a way i can write my own software license for free without a lawyer. I can’t use the gnu public license because its for closed source software.

Can open source software development or coursework count as work experience?

When applying for a job as a software developer, does open source development and college/university coursework count as work experience? or does it have to be a formal 9-5 job to count as experience?
