I am running Linux (ubuntu) on its own partition. I have the windows partition mounted and can read and copy files from it. However, it is read-only. I want to be able to modify files in it and copy files into it.

What open-source software is there for ubuntu linux that will do this? How do I install it and make it work so that the NTFS partition is editable and mounted?

I like linux better myself and it wnt crash, its free and runs everything or any type of server.
I know how to get all programs I need running just will they connect properly most servers and databases now days use linux.
Just want to know if people are having issues with it?

Is it worth the free because modern linux has same stuff windows has.

Hi i have a linux operating system running ubuntu 10.4 and i got a netgear wnda3100 wireless adapter so i can recieve wifi and the archive manager that runs with linux wont allow me to install the disk for netgear. THe archive manager also will not allow me to install anything else onto the computer.. PLEASE HELP!

I have a laptop running on Vista, and the hard drive got currupted, is there a program, someone told me about that is Linux based, to recover files from the hard drive?

Whenever, I write on notepad and try to save as .php extension, it saves script as normal text. I have downloaded the wamp and php seems running. I have tried to save as "all files" and as I said, I have used .php extension on them. I am new and learning php from web videos and web sites.

I started firefox and pacman music started playing and continues as long as firefox is running. It doesn’t happen with internet explorer.

When I try to open it I get this message:

"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."

I already restarted my computer once and it didn’t work. How do I close "the existing Firefox process" without having to restart again?
Where is task manager?

i selected default gnu compiler and also tried with borland……..can anyone help????????

I’ve found a number of different examples online, all with different approaches. Can someone share a simple example of php code that will display a gif image on the page? I *think* that the server I’m running on is using PHP4

(I’m still in the learning stage and have a long way to go.)
