I got HP laptop windows vista installed bout a month later it started flashing os not found and kept acting weird. I took it to a repair shop an they installed windows basic for a home pc. my coverage is still on it should I takeit back and hope its covered or is there anothr way? Please help, thanks.

I am replacing a failing hdd with a new one and was wondering if I can transfer the os(wxpsp2) and other files to the new hdd myself (if so how?) or do I need to take pc repair shop to have them transfer the files for me?
