How could I know wether I am ready to join an Open Source proyect?
I at least have a good handle on programming basics, but as a newbie eager to learn more, I wonder when will be the right time to join an Open Source proyect. It would seem as an excellent way to improve my skills and give back to my community, but I have no parameter to measure when I will be mature enough, as a programmer, to join a Proyect (which is of course no beginning-level program). I don’t want to waste the time of advanced programmers with my lack of skills but I want to learn from them, as I recognize that as the best way to become one of them some day. How do I overcome such a dilema?
Where could I find a programmer to collaborate with on open source wifi router software with?
I would like to create a custom firmware package for off the shelf wifi routers, (linksys/cisco is my preference) open sourced, for an art project. Project is funded and programmer would receive all money beyond hardware purchase requirements to get the project off the ground. I will receive no money, but will retain IP of project.
A custom linksys firmware, for art.
