Help installing a boot manager or getting onto another partition?
I have my hard drive partitioned into two partitions. One has XP installed and the other has GNU Linux (Debian) installed. I used to be able to choose which operating system to load when i turned the computer on using GRUB boot manager which came packaged with Debian. The problem is that I had to reformat the XP partition and so now I can no longer choose a partition to load but it automatically goes into windows. How can I get back onto Linux when i want to.
Thanks.

How can I see the Ubuntu graphical interface?
I downloaded Ubuntu 9.10 installer for windows. I went through the whole process, allowing 30 GB as a partition, and after rebooting and choosing "Ubuntu" from the menu (instead of Vista), this bloody GNU GRUB 1.97 beta 4 comes up. I hate it. From first sight.

How do you install a second OS on the same hard drive?
There is an old computer which I want to install WinXP on it, while retaining its Win98. I want the two OS to be completely separate from each other and each runs its own installed applications, and has absolutely nothing to do with each other.
The hard drive now is partitioned into C and D, C being the Win98 OS and installed programs, while D is personal data. Should I install XP in C or D partition? Or should I create a new partition within C or D (let’s call it E), this way if either OS screws up, I can restore only that partition using TrueImage or something similar?
Also how much space do I need to install XP?
