First off, yes I am a noob, but I’m trying to learn. I’m going to try out a Linux based OS, but my motherboard’s instructions only mention support for Windows 2000, and XP. If I try to install a different OS anyway could I possibly do permanent damage to my motherboard?

I can’t see the page, nor the colors, or anything just the script and a blank design view.

How do you edit php in dreamweaver? I donwloaded a script/template and can’t edit the colors nothing. help a noob please

On Windows Vista, i deleted the partition which contained linux. Now when I restart, I used to get a screen that allowed me to choose to boot linux, or other. I would choose other for Windows to load.

However, now I just get a command prompt from grub, and do not know how to get it to load windows. How would I tell this grub program to boot the OS (windows vista) on the machine.

Note: I barely used linux, so I’m a noob with that, and need some noob friendly instructions on what to do, thank you.
Thanx guys, from the other info i got, that appears it will work, also as a alternative to not having the vista disk, i found that I can type

root (hd0,0)
chainloader +1
boot

and that forces grub to boot my windows.

i am a total noob to linux to so please bear with me. i had win xp installed on my comp and out of bordum i decided to install linux (UBUNTU 7.10) i did some research (but apparently not enought) and installed linux. but everytime i boot my comp i get a "GRUB Hard Disk Error" (no " ") with no error message. I’ve tried installing four times now and the same thing happens. How can this problem be resolved?

Please help! I want to find a good tutorial on GNU make but all the documentation provided sucks,

Someone please give me a link, Google can’t help me.
Or can someone be kind enough to tell me how to use it? I can’t even get the program to run, the console just opens for less than a second and closes.

I am a total noob and I need to be spoonfed throught the whole process.

I am completely new to linux fedora and linux for that matter. I am running fedora from a live usb until i get these issues fixed. I apparently need to install mpeg decoders, xvid decoders, avi decoders and a flash player. Being a complete noob to linux I don’t know how to go about this.
