I would like to start using linux but i’m not a computer expert or anything. I’m not totally incompetent either. Is there a version available for me that i would actually be able to use successfully?

I really like linux except for most of the programs i use won’t work on it. Is there a linux version that will run Yahoo messenger 10, Itunes 9, Frostwire and google chrome? I really don’t like pidgin because of the way i use messenger. I have had very little luck with wine.

I downloaded OpenSuse 11.1 onto my hard drive using Unetbootin but I’ve decided I want to remove it and try a different distribution. I thought I could take it off by uninstalling unetbootin because this worked with previous installs but for some reason OpenSuse remains on my hard drive and I can’t install any other Linux version now. How do I get OpenSuse off of my hard drive?

Hello everyone !
I have Ubuntu Linux version 9.04 installed in one partition of my laptop. There’s a newer better version that has just been released (10.04) And I want to install it, but at the same time replace the old one completely with the new installation.
What is the best way to do this ? The way that it’s less error-prone, or the easiest way.

Note. I have Windows installed as well and I use GRUB for dual booting.

I am using the PDG shopping cart. With it, I want to encrypt my emails so no one can see the credit card information. I have followed their instructions from http://www.pdgsoft.com/docs/Encryption.pdf but I cannot get it to work. I was able to install the PGP software and create a key, but I do not know how to use the GNU Privacy Guard. I have a windows XP computer, but I am running our website on a linux server. It says to upload the gpg.exe file to my FTP. When I do that on my linux server, it will not run. However, it will run on my windows computer. How can I install the linux version on my windows computer to upload to my linux server?

I have never installed nor used Linux before.
I heard it’s better than Windows and i have a spare old laptop which is broken now.

Now i thought about installing Linux on it. But since i never used Linux before, i need a version which is easy to install and use for a newb like me.

And i have also a few questions about it:
Can i still play Java games such as RuneScape?
Can i still browse the web like on Windows?

My laptop specifications are:

around 186 mb ram
around 560 mhz processor speed
and 5 gb diskspace

I have a DELL Latitude D600 that was passed down to me by my older sister. The XP on it has some bad malware and is generally corrupted. What would be the best Linux version to either replace it , or do a dual boot?
It is about 5 years old.
