Front end suggestions for a SQL 2005 database?

I am in a database class where we are required to create a GNU or front end for a database we are designing. I was thinking VB.NET would be a good front end, but my partiner says use access which I think is too basic. I want my stuff to look good. Which do you think is better and why

freeraser for entire hard drive?

Is there a GNU-licensed piece of software like freeraser, except that instead of specializing in overwriting to the point of non-recovery the data of a specific file, it overwrites to the point of non-recovery the entire free space of the hard drive, or a specific portion of the hard drive to avoid potential conflicts with constant reading and writing of data?

What is the program GIMP?

Are there any free, open-source alternatives to MyInvoices?

I found GNU-Cash as a free open source alternative to QuickBooks but I cannot find one for MyInvoices anywhere…

How do I get back on Ubuntu?

I just got Ubuntu yesterday and I updated it today, when I went to use linux afterwards, I got nothing but text saying to write commands and Ubuntu GNU beta version on top, press tab for commands.

How do I fix this and get back on ubuntu?

How do I use the "dd.exe" command correctly for copying an image? (I am using FAU for Windows).?

I just installed Forensics Acquisition Utilities for windows, and it has a version of the dd.exe program (inspired by the popular GNU dd utility program). I need to use the dd command to copy the image diskboot.img file onto my USB flash drive (not the file, but the actual image contained inside diskboot.img — which is what the dd program is *supposed* to do.)

So far, however, the only thing the dd program is doing is merely coping the file, diskboot.img, over to the USB drive as is without exploding it.

Am I doing something wrong or leaving off some kind of necessary command line argument? Which one?

This is what I am typing so far:
dd if=diskboot.img of=e:\ –localwrt

(where diskboot.img is located in the same directory as the dd executable to make things simple, and e: is the drive letter associated with my USB flash drive)

(My goal: http://docs.fedoraproject.org/install-guide/f7/en_US/sn-making-media.html — but I do not have Linux for using dd)

Why does the FOSS world seem to prefer C over C++?

FOSS = Free Open Source Software. C and C++ are programming languages. C++ can be considered a "child" of C, with many more features.

Almost every piece of GNU-licensed software I have come across is written in C. Why is that?
I’m not sure if this is also true for software that uses the BSD license, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

Looking for free software where I can plot functions, have sliders and can publish the results in a webpage?

Hello,

I am wondering where I can get some software that can graph 2-D functions, (ideally 3-D functions), with sliders where I can vary the values for the functions. I would also like to be able to display this data in a webpage… Will GNU plot do this? I have been looking around and can not find if it will do both of these things. Any recommendations on software that would that is free/low cost?

Thanks,

Brian

how do i download gnu?

I am currently trying to download the operating system Gnu so that I can run the program ddrescue to attempt to recover some files on a hard drive with a few bad sectors. I’ve gone to the sites where I am supposed to be able to download it from but i’m not clear on which file to pick. there are long lists of files all of which appear to be files i need but none of them seem to be a large enough file for an OS. Is there any site that will simply let me download an ISO and burn it to disk?
