i’m planning on fixing up and making use of a pretty old desktop computer in my basement and i’m pretty sure i’m gonna need to format the whole thing and reinstall windows xp. but i’d much rather have linux over xp. i’m not too knowledgeable about computers and i’m not really sure where to start. any ideas?

what is a good computer, like HP or Dell, to run linux on. like Ubuntu. Or can i order the computer from the manufactorer with Ubuntu already loaded on it. any answers or links to good answers would be greatly appreciated.

Is there anyone out there, who can help me with this. I am trying to install this wireless linksys wusb100 pen drive adapter to a desktop computer running linux ubuntu. Any suggestions or solutions rather?

1)Desktop: go to My computer/C/Program Files. Look for a folder called Crawler. Delete it. (Gets rid of CToolbar, which loads before Firefox & uses about 30,000k memory).

2)Firefox: Go to Tools/Add-Ons, look for Iconix. Uninstall it. (Gets rif of emailidbroker, whcich loads before firefox).
