Ubuntu One Personal Cloud Service Does Windows

The beta release of the Windows client for Canonical’s Ubuntu One service is off to a solid start, but work remains if it’s to overtake Dropbox. – In October, when Canonical released Ubuntu 10.10, some of the product’s most
talked-about new features involved the expansion of the personal cloud service,
Ubuntu One, beyond the popular Linux-based OS to other platforms, such as
Apple’s iOS, Google’s Android and Microsoft’s Windows.

Should I buy MacBook Pro or Open Source GNU/Linux-BSD Laptop for College?

This question has been on my mind all summer long. As I prepare for class in the fall I have been searching the interw3bs for a new laptop. This reason for wanting one is I have been using a eMac running Fedora 8-12 and I love it, but I think it is time to move on to something more portable. My three biggest concerns with buying a new notebook are in this order

Functionality (Programs "just work". and Program compatibility)(GPU, CPU,ect.)
Battery Life (7 hours or better —–> would be nice if i can get that performance on GNU?Linux)
Aesthetics (Oooooooo Shiny)

I am going to college to become an engineer. I don’t know which field of engineering but I know I want to build a better future for my home town and small villages in the 3rd world. The software I use now is all open source but don’t know if I can get away with using it in a college environment where AutoDesk and Adobe are king.

I don’t mind Apple’s closed system when it comes to iTunes and all that I have ways around that. But, they are showing great interest in F/OSS. Even if I run Windows ( another closed system) i still have to pay for the software. Might as well go closed source with open source benefits.

Is it illegal to run Leopard OS X or any other Macintosh OS on a Lenovo Y650 Ideapad laptop?

I don’t know if it is illegal or not but I heard that you could run Leapard OS X or any other macintosh OS on a Lenovo Y650. I don’t know if it is true or not. Somebody please answer my question. The reason why I asked this question is because i want to make my own ipod touch applications with Apple SDK programming, and it is only available on Mac OS X. Thanks.

What Open-Source Application Software Is Available for Apple Mac Hardware?

I’ve replaced Apple’s Safari’s web-browser with FireFox and I like it better. I also have replaced Apple’s Mac OS X Mail with Thunderbird and it’s a learning curve, but, so far, it seems more reliable.

Are there any other Apps for Mac OS X Leopard that are good open-source programs?

(I prefer apps written in Java).

I would appreciate all ideas.

What is a good OS X tool for spreadsheets and regression analysis?

Microsoft will finally be updating their mac version of office in the near future, but until then I’m stuck with the horrendously sluggish Excel 2004 to do regression analysis for my Instrumental Analysis lab and lecture.

I tried Numbers (apple’s answer to excel) and quickly found out that it doesn’t even do regression analysis!

So yeah, I’m wondering about OS X programs that do spreadsheets and regression analysis to at least the depth found in Microsoft Excel and preferably even more extensive, for number manipulation in a quantitative, scholastic setting.

Is apple going to update to a new OS system soon?

I am planning on purchasing mac OS/X panther, but I need to know if their will be a new OS system in a year or two.
