How do you resolve Firefox 3 memory usage problems?

Author: Every once and a while, Firefox will hog up the memory to over around 300 MB of RAM (looked through it via Task Manager). It easily resolves by just restarting it, but eventually it just climbs back up overtime. Is there a solution to this? I don’t use a lot of tabs; just maybe 5-6.

Look carefully at the Firefox Add-Ons you are using. I recently experienced a problem where memory usage suddenly soared to nearly 1G in use within a few minutes of time, for no obvious reason.
I disabled all of the add-ons except Flashblock (I hate useless animation) and it never happened again. I have not yet tried enabling them again, one by one, but try disabling them all and see if it helps you.
This is typical Firefox behavior. Version 3.5 does help slightly, but perhaps you should try using Chrome? Nothing you can do about Firefox’s memory usage other than closing and opening.
