How do I start contributing to Open Source projects?
I am currently looking for open source software projects but I don’t know where to start.
I am open to learning any new languages for the projects. I’m pretty much looking to gain experience in programming.
I have a background in C, PHP, SQL, HTML/XHTML, and CSS.
I am open to any suggestions.
best way would be to contribute to a group who’s software you use.
is there any opensource software you like using? and would like to see changed or made better? You can also peruse sourceforge for different projects that might interest you.
Hi. Drop by the OpenOffice site. They are always in need of help. http://contributing.openoffice.org/index.html
You could start by looking on sites like codeproject ect…
and i would search google for things like "Community Open Source" or "Unfinished open source" or similar
Or even start your own.. eg… Find some software that is generally very expensive to buy and start working on an open source version of it. Soon either something else will come to you, or you will finish it… either way….
Start by visiting one of these website :
Sourceforge.net
Opensource.org
Google Code (code.google.com)
Why not nip along to the link below, pick a project you like the look of, then offer your services?
