How can i recovery linux operating system on my Asus Eee pc?
My Asus Eee pc right now has windows xp on it. But am trying to restore the Linux OS back on the pc, and i have the Support CD Rev.1.0 and the Linux Recovery CD Rev.1.0. so i just need someone to tell me how to go about installing back the Linux OS withe these CDs.
You start by booting the Linux Recovery CD first, when that is done you use the Support CD second. If you don’t have a CD drive you need to get one that is external and uses the USB ports.
Get in touch with the OEM
By installing Windows on your Asus Eee you will have destroyed the ext 3 format which is required for Linux and replaced it with NTFS. In doing that, the original copy of Linux will have been destroyed too.
You might be able to find a copy of the original Linux, called Xandros, but be aware that it was produced in 2007 and has not been updated since. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xandros
I would install Mint 9 on it instead which is the latest easy to use Linux, http://distrowatch.com/?newsid=06194 or the Gnome version here might work too, http://distrowatch.com/?newsid=06074
